The Southern Pacific region of Costa Rica is becoming a popular destination for visitors to the country. The relatively short distance of the coastal highway between Manuel Antonio and Dominical has been asphalted and new bridges constructed in 2010. This has completed the coastal highway and the journey from San Jose as an uninterrupted complete paved journey that can be travelled comfortably and quickly whilst enjoying the stunning scenery. Driving from San Jose to Dominical the journey takes little more than three hours.
There are also daily services by internal flights from San Jose to Quepos or Palmar Norte regional airports, which takes approximately 40 minutes and the flights are quite spectacular over the steep mountains and valleys covered in dense jungle, coves and palm lined beaches along the coast.
Another reason for the growing popularity in the Dominical, Uvita and Ojochal areas are the number of many new vacation rentals of all types to choose from. Ranging from cabinas, condos and villas with one to seven bedrooms, offering all varieties of incredible ocean views. These are located on the beach or nestled on the hillsides or surrounding mountains over looking the dramatic coastline.
Visitors choose stay in vacation rentals with their families, friends or partners as it gives them more privacy and freedom than staying in a hotel. Now visitors have more diverse reasons than before for staying in a vacation rental, such as a wedding and reception, others come to renew their marriage vows and celebrate with family and friends.
This growing influx of visitors to the area has opened new opportunities for local tours and activities. The areas around Dominical, Uvita and Ojochal have numerous options for pursuits of enjoyment on vacation. Such as sport fishing, surfing, scuba diving and one of the more exceptional of these is the little known Caño Island that has world class diving. This is a protected biological reserve in the Marina Ballena National Park that has limits for the number people in the ocean at a time; this keeps the reserve in its pristine state and allows you to dive undisturbed. From the mainland the duration of the boat trip to Caño Island is less than one hour and often on route dolphins are spotted and if in season whales. For a different type of excursion take a horse to the Nauyaca waterfall or the various other ones around Uvita or enjoy the ride along the beach at sunset.
For many of good reasons people buy their vacation home in the Southern Pacific zone and supplement the running costs of the property as a vacation rental and often with a nice profit to spare.
For this type of rental property there are various options and areas to look at. Real estate for vacation rentals in Dominical are becoming very popular due to the areas undiscovered location and relative prices
