The community spirit in Dominical & Uvita and the positive results that it brings is one of the reasons that attract people to buy real estate in Dominical and Uvita. Throughout the year there are various fund raising events for different areas of need, one of these is the Dominicalito 3rd annual run, which is on March 20th 2011. This event is grown fast in popularity and a big community event.
There are three races on the day that are for different ages and abilities. There main race is a of 10 kilometers that is for the fit as some sections involves running up steep tracks. There is an easier Fun Run of 5 Kilometers and a run for children up to 12 years old called the Toucan Run that is just 2 Kilometers and another area of participation is Walking The D.A.W.G., which is self-explanatory.
$1,000 of prize money will be awarded for the top placed runners of the 10k. For the 5k the winner takes home gift certificates and medals are given to the winners to the joy of the children especially.
The local businesses donate more than $3,600 in gift certificates for the free draw that is held after the race for all the volunteers and participants. The founders of this event Dave & Debbie West donate some of the funds raised from this event to The Dominical Life Guards and the local school in Dominicalito.
